UPDATE: University Police received preliminary information Monday from the medical examiner that the cause of death was a blood clot in the brain that led to a stroke, according to police spokesman Capt. Marc Limansky.
A Resident Life staff member found a student dead in her Commons 3 apartment Thursday morning, and while the cause of death has not yet been determined, police said there is no evidence of foul play.
Anita Eamsureya, 19, an international student from Thailand and rising sophomore, was found after a concerned relative alerted police that the family had not heard from her for some time and could not reach her, according to University Police spokesman Marc Limansky.
Eamsureya was found unresponsive lying on her bed. The staff member called emergency medical services, who determined she had been dead for some time, Limansky said.
“There was no sign of foul play, there was no sign of suicide, there was no sign of alcohol,” Limansky said.
He added, “From what people have been telling us about her, she was not a party girl, she was a very studious type.”
A cause of death has not yet been determined because police are waiting for the medical examiner’s report, which Limansky said could take several weeks. The investigation is ongoing.
