College Park residents will be able to pay and process all parking zone permits and city parking fines at Davis Hall’s lobby window starting Monday, according to a June 1 news release.

These services were previously offered only at City Hall, Public Works Director Robert Stumpff said. The changes will also allow residents to obtain appeals forms for parking violations and purchase or renew the Prince George’s County annual pet license, according to the release.

Nonresident vehicle registration permits will be introduced later in the year as well.

Davis Hall houses the College Park Public Works Department and is located about half a mile from Route 1. The new services will be offered Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

These changes have been in the making for months, Stumpff said, ever since Scott Somers became the College Park city manager in October.

City Council members also had requested these changes over the past two years, Stumpff said.

“We are estimating [users] would be mainly people that live in North College Park or north of [Route] 193, because the people that live south of Route 193 are actually closer [to City Hall],” Stumpff said.

The public works department is still working on providing certain services at Davis Hall. It cannot perform tasks such as registering cars from out of state, as employees have not yet received proper training, Stumpff said. Registration should be possible by August or September, he said.

Instead of going downtown or to City Hall, students living in rented homes in North College Park will be able to get non-resident vehicle registration permits at Davis Hall after employee training, Stumpff said.
