It’s no secret that bathing suit season is upon us, but there is no reason to sacrifice dessert to get that perfect beach body. Lucky for us, there’s Yogiberry.

When people think healthy, ice cream usually isn’t the first thing that comes to mind, but the frozen yogurt at Yogi is healthy — if you choose the right flavors and toppings.

As always, portion size is key. You can’t go to Yogi and get their biggest size if you want to stick to your diet. Stick to the small to ensure you don’t “accidentally” get too much.

Choosing the healthier flavors is the next step. Original is 75 calories and only 16 of those are from fat. However, if you get chocolate it’s 115 which isn’t bad, but it’s good to know what the best options are. Oreo is surprisingly less than chocolate and mango, so keep that in mind. Cake batter has the most calories at 132 with 41 of those from fat.

Get more than one flavor if you can’t resist the ones with the most fat. You combining original and chocolate means getting fewer calories than you would by ordering chocolate alone, while still getting your flavor of choice.

The best part of Yogi is, of course, the toppings, and they are where things get tricky. The easiest way to keep your Yogi healthy and delicious is to only add fruit. There are a ton to choose from and they add some sweet, extra, healthy flavor.

While there are a lot of fruit options, there are even more candy ones. Sometimes you just can’t resist candy and that’s okay, just don’t go overboard.

One healthy option would be to combine fruit and candy. I sometimes get a lot of fruit and a Reese’s Cup or a few gummy worms. It’s similar to combining the flavors of yogurt because you get the healthy and the not so healthy.

Getting only chocolate and candy is an option, but if you want to stay healthy, you need to limit yourself.

So don’t stress too much about your beach body in these last few weeks of school. Enjoy a finals study break at Yogiberry.
