The Maryland men’s lacrosse team moved up one spot, to No. 8, in the national rankings after defeating Michigan, 15-8, on Saturday. It’s the second straight week the Terps advanced one spot.
In March losses to Notre Dame and Villanova, Maryland registered a combined 16 goals. But during their two-game turnaround against North Carolina and Michigan, the Terps (6-2) have combined for 30 scores.
Attackman Dylan Maltz leads Maryland with six finishes in the past two contests, and midfielder Connor Kelly paces the squad with nine points in that span. Goalkeeper Dan Morris, who was named Big Ten Specialist of the Week last week, has made 12 saves in consecutive games.
The Terps are set for their most difficult stretch of the campaign. Next Saturday, they welcome No. 1 Penn State to Maryland Stadium before facing four teams ranked in the top-13. The matchups with No. 7 Albany, No. 13 Rutgers and No. 9 Ohio State, which follow the Nittany Lions tilt, are road games.
