Tickets to see the popular band are $15 for bowl seats and $25 for floor seats.

WHO: Dashboard Confessional

WHEN: Nov. 18

WHERE: Cole Field House

Emo fans, stock up on Kleenex as heart-on-his-sleeve act Dashboard Confessional is headlining the Fall Concert at Cole Field House in November.

Headed by former Further Seems Forever frontman Chris Carrabba, the award-winning solo project turned-quartet will stop at Cole Nov. 18 as a part of its tour with Long-Island punk-emo band Brand New.

Student Entertainment Events President Noreen Tahir said she was excited to be able to bring Dashboard to the campus because it is an act often requested by students.

“Whenever we ask for student input on bands, of course we get a lot of requests for Dave Matthews Band, the Red Hot Chili Peppers or whoever’s hot at the moment,” she said. “Dashboard comes up all the time and when it came up that he was coming through, we just had to jump on it.”

Dashboard last performed on the campus in 2002 at Ritchie Coliseum, following the release of his platinum-certified album MTV Unplugged 2.0. He is best known for his track “Vindicated,” which was the hit single on the Spiderman 2 soundtrack.

Carrabba is well-known for his frank, soulful lyrics that have placed him among the godfathers of “emo” – or emotional – style music.

First starting as a solo act with his 2000 Drive-Thru Records release The Swiss Army Romance, Dashboard has evolved into a more typical electric indie-rock band.

Dashboard’s most recent release, Dusk and Summer, is predominantly electric, including the single “Don’t Wait.”

Tickets for the show will be $15 for bowl seats and $25 for floor seats for students. Non-student tickets will be $20 for bowl seats and $30 for floor seats.

Tahir said she is unsure when tickets for the event will go on sale because the Stamp Student Union is in the process of revamping their ticket system, but she predicted tickets would be available in early October. SEE will be heavily promoting the event through a series of newspaper ads, flyers and posters.

She said some effort would be made to attract a non-student audience to help fill the about 12,000 seat field house, but said the show remains aimed toward students.

SEE’s announcement of the Dashboard fall concert follows last year’s failed show featuring rapper The Game, which was canceled in December by the promoter due to sagging ticket sales. SEE sold only 350 of 4,000 available student tickets.

Last year, SEE officials said they were unsure why ticket sales were lackluster, but former SEE President Gretchen Dellinger told The Diamondback last year that students often wait until the last minute to purchase tickets.

But representatives of the promoter last year said they believed high ticket prices were the primary factors of low sales. Student tickets for The Game’s show sold for $28 for bowl seats and $35 for floor seats.

Tahir said she did not yet have a crowd projection for the event, but said she looked forward to a good concert.
