An officer responded to the lobby of the University Police station Oct. 2 at about 4:45 p.m. for a report of a roommate dispute between two men at La Plata Hall, Hoaas said.

One of the roommates reported the incident to University Police, and the dispute was entirely verbal with no physical force used.

Hoaas said the individuals were referred to the Department of Resident Life, which will handle the situation.

Theft

An officer responded to the lobby of the University Police station at about 3:59 p.m. on Oct. 2 for a report of a theft that occurred at the physics building, Hoaas said.

The female student who reported the incident said the theft had occurred Oct. 1 between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m., Hoaas said. After leaving the physics building, she realized she had left an electronic device behind, and when she went back to get it, it was gone.

The case remains active, and officers are reviewing film from cameras near the building.

Other incidents

An officer responded on Oct. 1 at about 2:58 p.m. to McKeldin Library after a suspicious picture was found on social media, Hoaas said.

Hoaas said the picture looked as if it had been taken from the rooftop of the library. After reaching the scene, the officer checked the rooftop to ensure there was no forced entry from the access point leading to the roof. The officer did not find anyone at the scene.

On Oct. 4 at about 4:31 p.m., an individual was seen on police cameras with a landscaping cutting tool, Hoaas said.

Officers responded to the area near Lot 1 and found a group of three juveniles, none of whom are affiliated with this university. An officer stopped the individual with the tool, and the other two individuals left the area.

The tool was seized, and one of the individuals who had left the scene came back. Both were released, and the whereabouts of the third individual is unknown.
