In the Terrapins gymnastics team’s first meet without freshman Kathy Tang, the Terps defeated N.C. State, Towson and New Hampshire in an emotional night at Comcast Center with a score of 195.10. N.C. State’s 194.700 was good for second place.
Katy Dodds delivered an MVP-type performance, notching meet highs on floor and vault. Dodds’ 9.950 on floor was good for sixth best in Terps history, and the junior tied senior Ally Krikorian on vault with a 9.925.
With her younger sister relegated to the sidelines, Karen Tang delivered a spirited performance. The junior tallied a meet high and tied a season high with a 9.850 on uneven bars.
Sophomore Stephanie Giameo, third in the nation on beam, scored a meet high 9.875 on the apparatus.
Kathy Tang may be done for the rest of the regular season, but Brett Nelligan’s squad isn’t ready to call it quits just yet.
