It’s fall again, and though the warm weather might indicate otherwise, Halloween is fast approaching. I’m sure that you’ve had your costume planned for weeks, you’ve already carved about three pumpkins and you’ve stocked up on all the essential candies for you and your roommates, but do you know what kind of events are happening all over the campus leading up to the 31st? No? Great!
Without further ado, the unofficial guide to a very College Park Halloween:
SEE presents: An Advanced Screening of Nightcrawler in Hoff Theater from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 23
If you dream of seeing Jake Gyllenhaal as a devoted freelance journalist who will do whatever it takes to get a gory story, then this is the movie for you. Don’t miss the advanced screening of this chilling crime thriller. Tickets are free but must be reserved in advance.
Punkin’ Palooza in the basement of Anne Arundel Hall from 7-9 p.m. on Oct. 23
The Honors Student Programming Council is providing free mini pumpkins for decorating as well as screening Hocus Pocus and providing seasonal refreshments. Don’t even pretend you don’t want a mini pumpkin.
If you’re a music lover, join the UMD Jazz Ensemble, the UMD Jazz Lab Band and the University Jazz Band for their annual hair-raising performance.
SEE presents Haunted House in Hornbake Plaza from 6-9 p.m. on Oct. 30
Prepare your most embarrassing shriek and make sure you have your human shield; SEE is once again providing the campus with its most scary attraction. Either scare or be scared (seriously though, you can volunteer to be a scarer), but don’t miss out!
Haunted UMD Tour whenever you want!
Are you more of an independent spirit? Perhaps a pursuer of poltergeists? An amateur ghost-buster, if you will? Take yourself on a tour of all this university’s haunted buildings and see if you can catch our oldest undergrads as they wreak havoc on Marie Mount Hall, the Diamondback offices and more.
