For the second straight season, the Terrapins men’s basketball team will get to kick off its season in New York’s state-of-the-art Barclays Center.

The Terps — who opened this season against then-No. 3 Kentucky in the Brooklyn-based arena on Nov. 9 — will kick off their 2013-14 campaign against Connecticut in the same venue on Nov. 8 of this year.

This could be the second of a number of trips to Brooklyn. Last month, this university signed a multi-year agreement to continue playing games in Barclays Center.

“We’re looking forward to returning to Barclays Center to play a quality opponent in Connecticut,” coach Mark Turgeon said in a news release. “This will be a great experience for our players and fans.”

“It was a great experience to play at a first-class facility like Barclays Center last season,” athletic director Kevin Anderson in a news release. “We’re looking forward to returning and taking on a great opponent in front of an energetic and enthusiastic crowd.”

The Terps and Huskies have met five times in the programs’ histories. UConn holds a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series, but the Terps won the last meeting, 90-92, in the NCAA East Regionalon March 24, 2002 — the same year they won their first national championship.
