Students and College Park residents enjoy the nightlife at RJ Bentley’s on Tuesday, June 17th.

Six more days until students move back onto campus. Before you start packing your minivan, take a look at a few pieces of clothing you can’t live without in College Park.

4. Rainboot/ Raincoat/ Umbrella

Every college student needs adequate rain gear. However in the lovely state of Maryland, when it rains, it pours. If you walk outside and the skies are a little gray do not risk leaving your umbrella.

If you do get caught in a rainstorm, the walk back to North Campus is long and you are going to be drenched. Rainboots are a must to avoid watered-down sneakers and don’t think about other rain shoes like Crocs. Protective rain gear will prevent you from being “that guy” who walks into ECON 200 late and gets everyone else in the row wet.

3. Comfortable and Cute Pants To Wear To Class

If you are waking up early to go to class, you definitely do not want to wear extravagant and uncomfortable clothing (like jeans) but you also do not want to look like a shlump in sweatpants.

You need pants that won’t be annoying to button up at 8 a.m. but will also not look like pajamas at a 1 p.m. class. These comfortable and cute pants normally has an elastic waistband but looks nicely put together. These pants from Aritzia help create the perfect casual and cute look for class.

It may be hot at first on campus but fall quickly takes over and you will definitely want pants like these around.

2. Epic Tailgate Outfits

Now that we are a Big Ten school, there are certain responsibilities students have to take on when going to tailgates.

Everyone has to be decked out in Maryland apparel. It mattered before we were in the Big Ten and now it is a necessity. Showing your school pride can be done in every piece of clothing from red shoes to Maryland state flag pants and even a face tattoo. Aside from the student union, a great place to buy Maryland apparel is the Book Exchange that just reopened on Route 1 and is loaded with game day essentials.

1. The Fracket

Picture this: it is Friday night and you are getting dressed to go out to a frat or Bentley’s. Sounds good so far right?

Here’s the catch: it is 20 degrees outside and you are freezing. You don’t want to be that girl/guy having to check their jacket at the door and you don’t want to wear long sleeves inside the bar because after five minutes you will definitely be sweating.

The answer to this problem is the fracket. It is the only way to survive the College Park winter and still have an active social life.

A fracket is a really big and comfortable sweatshirt purchased at a discount store that you wouldn’t mind throwing on the floor of a fraternity or losing. The fracket’s soul purpose is to keep you warm when you walk from Elkton to Route 1 and back again.
