GameStop is leaving its location along Route 1. An AT&T store will replace it.

The GameStop on Route 1 is closed and will be replaced by an AT&T store, a city official said.

The store located at 7300 Baltimore Avenue has been closed for a few weeks, a closure that is part of GameStop’s transformation to “expand its reach into the mobile space while scaling back on its traditional brick-and-mortar operations,” said Randall Toussaint, College Park’s economic development coordinator.

GameStop is coining its change as GameStop 3.0, which puts more emphasis on its digital sales. The company closed 251 video game stores last year, and its sales increased from $62.8 million in 2013 to $328.6 million in 2014, according to company filings.

Toussaint said the closure in College Park was in keeping with the company’s growth strategy.

Pandora’s Cube is now the only exclusively video game store in College Park.

There is no timetable for the AT&T store opening, but Toussaint said the company has submitted its plans to develop a store in the location.
