Maryland women’s lacrosse swept the Big Ten awards this week with attacker Megan Whittle earning Offensive Player of the Week, goalkeeper Megan Taylor receiving Defensive Player of the Week and midfielder Grace Griffin taking Freshman of the Week.
The trio was essential to Maryland’s wins against then-No. 7 Penn on Thursday and then-No. 3 James Madison on Saturday.
Whittle recorded four goals, one assist and one ground ball in the Terps’ 13-7 victory over Penn. She built on the showing against James Madison with three goals, two assists and two caused turnovers.
The senior has been named the conference’s best attacker three times this season.
Griffin earned her first Big Ten honor this year after her standout performance in Maryland’s 15-12 win over James Madison. She scored four goals on just four shots and added one assist, one ground ball and one caused turnover.
Taylor, meanwhile, made 13 saves against Penn and 12 saves against James Madison.
