After losing to Ohio State on Sunday, the Maryland men’s lacrosse team fell from the top spot to No. 3 in the latest Inside Lacrosse rankings released Monday.
The Buckeyes entered the game unranked with a .500 record but were dominant from the outset and dealt the Terps their second home loss this season.
In separate instances during the 12-10 loss, Maryland trailed by three goals and was behind to open the fourth quarter for the first time this season. A win would’ve clinched a Big Ten regular season championship for the Terps.
The upset earned Ohio State the No. 19 ranking this week.
Yale and Duke, which like the Terps also have two losses, are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.
The Terps are scheduled to close the regular season against No. 7 Johns Hopkins on Saturday in Baltimore.
