In two events Wednesday, women reported “peeping-Tom” incidents on campus — in which they were either filmed or photographed in private bathrooms, according to University Police spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas.

It is not known whether the suspects in both incidents are the same person, Hoaas said. The cases are active and the University Police detective unit is investigating both.

A university employee reported to police that she was in a bathroom stall at the biology-psychology building when she saw a cellphone coming from under the adjacent stall. A camera lens was pointed in her direction, Hoaas said. The female victim questioned the suspect before he left the bathroom, Hoaas said.

The victim in the first incident described the suspect as a dark-skinned male, about 5-feet-9 with an athletic build, short black hair, a purple shirt, light gray sweatpants and one black flip flop.

On the same day, at 8:47 p.m., University Police responded to La Plata Hall, where a female student reported a second incident, Hoaas said.

“The victim was taking a shower when she noticed a cellphone and that a picture was taken,” Hoaas added.

The suspect fled before the victim could identify their physical appearance and gender, Hoaas said. Both incidents were reported promptly after the incidents occurred.

“If there is suspicious activity or behavior contact police immediately,” Hoaas added.
