A 23-year-old man who fell from a high-rise apartment building on Cherry Hill Road was found dead early yesterday morning, Prince George’s County Police spokeswoman Cpl. Diane Richardson said.

The man was found just after midnight in the driveway outside the entrance of the building, which is part of the Seven Springs Village apartment complex in northern College Park, near the Capital Beltway. It was unclear whether the fall was an accident.

“It’s not clear why he ended up there,” Richardson said, referring to the location where the man was discovered. “There are no obvious signs if he jumped or fell.”

Despite reports from several media outlets yesterday that called the death “suspicious,” both Richardson and Cpl. Debbi Carlson said police did not suspect foul play.

“There were no gunshot wounds; there were no stab wounds on the body,” Carlson said.

Police would not release the man’s name or address because they did not suspect a homicide.

A maintenance worker at the apartment complex said the man fell from the eighth floor and was found outside the main entrance of the building. But police would not confirm what floor the man fell from, or if he was a resident of the building.

Junior biology major Anne Tran, who lives in the building the man apparently fell from, said she came home to a large number of police cars parked outside her building.

“I thought it was a drug bust or someone had died,” Tran said. “I didn’t think it was someone falling off the balcony.”
