Maryland women’s lacrosse midfielder Zoe Stukenberg was named the winner of the Elite 90 Award, the NCAA announced at a banquet in Philadelphia on Thursday night.

The award is given to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s 90 championships. Stukenberg, a biological sciences major, also won the award last season.

“We are so proud of Zoe and all the hard work she puts in,” coach Cathy Reese said in a release. “She’s such an important leader for us both on the field and off, and it’s an incredible honor for her to be recognized for her academic success.”

Stukenberg, Maryland’s third-leading scorer, was a unanimous All-Big Ten selection. Her 15 assists and 60 points are also third among the Terps, who boast the nation’s best offense.

Over 21 games, the Ellicott City, Maryland, native has also recorded 25 ground balls and 39 draw controls to complement 11 forced turnovers. Stukenberg was also placed on the Tewaaraton nominee list and was named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District team.

“I want to congratulate Zoe on this prestigious honor,” Athletic Director Kevin Anderson said in a release. “To earn this award for a second straight year shows her commitment to academic excellence. Zoe is a tremendous role model and leader and an outstanding representative of Maryland Athletics.”
