University of Maryland Police responded to reports of assault, harassment/stalking and theft over the past week, among other incidents, according to police reports.
Harassment/stalking
University Police responded to La Plata Hall on Oct. 8, at 10:17 p.m for a harassment/stalking and Title IX-Related report. A female student reported the incident to police, according to Hoaas.
The case is active.
Assault
University Police responded to the 3500 block of Campus Drive for an injured person report on Oct. 8 at 9:11 a.m.
A male victim reported that he got into a verbal altercation with a man he knew at a bus stop.
During the argument, the man punched the victim and demanded his property, according to police spokesperson Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas. The victim handed over the property to the man, who then sped off on a bicycle, Hoaas wrote in an email.
Later, University Police responded to the 5100 block of Roanoke Place and located the suspect — Lakendrick Dontae Bell, 35, from Greenville, North Carolina. He was arrested and charged with robbery, second-degree assault and theft of less than $100.
The case is closed.
Theft
On Oct. 8 at 3:45 p.m., University Police responded to South Campus Commons 4 for a bicycle theft. A male student reported to police that his mountain bike and chain lock were stolen between Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. and Oct. 8 at 9:40 a.m., Hoaas wrote in an email.
A video review of the cameras in the area is underway, and the case is still under investigation, Hoaas wrote.
Another male student, who had a motor scooter parked in a lot outside of Calvert Hall, also reported that his vehicle was stolen, according to Hoaas.
University Police responded on Oct. 9 at 11:31 a.m., and the male student reported to police that his motor scooter was stolen between Oct. 8 at 9 p.m. and Oct. 9 at 9 a.m., Hoaas wrote.
