University of Maryland Police responded to reports of suspicious activity, trespassing and vandalism, among other incidents this past week, according to police reports.
Suspicious Activity
On April 30 at 12:20 a.m, University Police responded to the Landmark on the 4500 block of College Avenue for a report of individuals throwing eggs downward toward people below them. The Student Police Auxiliary made the report, and officers were able to locate two of the suspects, police spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas said.
When confronted, the two female suspects reported that a third woman was also involved in the incident, Hoaas said. All three women were referred to the Office of Student Conduct. This case is closed.
Trespassing
University Police responded to La Plata Beach on May 2 at 4:58 p.m. for a report of two suspicious individuals. Officers stopped the two juvenile males and confirmed both individuals had active denials to the campus issued in April 2016, Hoaas said.The two suspects were taken to University Police headquarters and were later released to a guardian, Hoaas said. Both juveniles were criminally charged with school trespassing/refusing to leave a building. This case is closed.
Vandalism
On April 28 at 11:20 a.m., University Police responded to South Campus Commons for a report of a broken window. The informant, a female university employee, told the officer that a rock had been thrown through the Commons 5 window between the time of the report and 12:00 a.m. that same day, Hoaas said.
This case is active, and police will review area camera footage to learn more, Hoaas said.
Theft
On April 29 at 2:11 p.m., University Police responded to the A.V. Williams Building for a report of a stolen laptop, Hoaas said. A male university student reported that the university-issued laptop was stolen on April 27 between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. in the Computer and Space Sciences Building.
This case is active, Hoaas said.
University Police responded to Leonardtown on April 30 at 10:40 p.m. for a report of a stolen bicycle, Hoaas said. A female university student said the theft took place between 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. that day.
Police will review area camera footage, and this case remains active, Hoaas said.
