Terrapins men’s soccer defender Taylor Kemp and midfielder John Stertzer were named the MAC Hermann Trophy watch list today, according to a release.

The highest individual honor in college soccer, the MAC Hermann Trophy will be presented in January to its male and female winners. Forty-two men and 38 women are currently on the lists. It will be pared down to 15 semifinalists in late November before finalists are announced in early December.

Kemp is a three-year starter for the Terps, starting all 66 games he has appeared in. During his career in College Park, Kemp has scored two goals and assisted on 10 more. In 2011, he was a Second Team All-ACC selection.

An NSCAA Third-Team All-America in 2011, Stertzer is looking to build on a campaign in which he scored a career-high 14 goals, five of which were game winners. Stertzer also was a First Team All-ACC selection.

The Terps were one of eight schools with multiple nominees.

In a staff move, former goalkeeper Will Swaim was hired as director of operations on Aug. 9, a release stated. Swaim capped a five-year career in College Park in 2011, recording five shutouts and posting a 12-3-2 record in 17 matches. Swaim is currently pursuing a master’s in public policy at the university.
