Busboys and Poets

Busboys and Poets, located down Route 1 in Hyattsville, is perfect for dinner with your friends or family when they come to visit. Not only is the food great, but it also as one of the biggest gluten free menus, with the most variety, that I have found near College Park.

Labeled right on the menu are the options that are gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan. There are so many options it is hard to decide what get. Some of my favorite dishes that I’ve found are the gluten free fried chicken and the gluten free pizza. The fried chicken is crusted with cornmeal. This is the first time I’ve found a gluten free fried chicken, and it was delicious.

As I mentioned in my previous blog about pizza, Busboys and Poets also has great pizzas. Since they have the gluten free shells, you can get any toppings that you want. The ones listed as gluten free are the veggie pizza and the meat pizza.

However, the one that caught my eye was the Hawaiian pizza with Canadian bacon and fresh pineapple. Of course, even though it wasn’t listed as gluten free, you can still get that pizza on a gluten free shell and feel free to enjoy.

At a lot of restaurants it is underrated how difficult it can be to find a good side dish that you are in the mood for. That will never be the issue here. It has quinoa and veggies, wild rice and even sweet potato fries that are gluten free.

Harder than finding a side? A good dessert. What made me happier than anything else on the menu was seeing not one, but two gluten free cakes on the menu. The flourless chocolate cake and the hazelnut chocolate cake are both gluten free and will easily make your mouth water.
