Maryland men’s lacrosse midfielder Connor Kelly was named as one of five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award on Thursday, the team announced.
The award is given to the best men’s and women’s lacrosse players in the country annually. Kelly is just the third finalist in program history and will attend the award ceremony on May 31 in Washington, D.C.
Kelly, who this year began wearing the No. 1 jersey, given to the program’s top player, anchors Maryland’s attack. Entering Sunday’s NCAA tournament game with Robert Morris, Kelly leads the Terps with 40 goals and 33 assists.
The Easton, Connecticut, native scored 46 goals as a junior but has prioritized connecting with open teammates rather than simply driving to the net in his final season in College Park.
