Right-hander Jake Stinnett pitched eight shutout innings of one-hit baseball against Bryant on Feb. 22, 2014.

Terrapins baseball right-hander Jake Stinnett was named ACC Pitcher of the Week Monday for the fourth time this season after throwing a complete-game shutout Friday at home against Notre Dame.

He’s the first pitcher since 2004 to earn the weekly honor four times during a season. N.C. State’s Mike Rogers was the last player to accomplish that feat.

In a 2-0 win over the Fighting Irish, Stinnett struck out 13 batters — one below his career-high — and surrendered four hits and three walks.

Stinnett leads the ACC in complete games (4), innings pitched (89) and strikeouts (107). He also boasts the fourth-lowest opposing batting average in the conference (.178).

The senior’s 107 strikeouts is the Terps’ third-highest single-season tally. Steve Schmoll set the record with 124 strikeouts in 2003.

Stinnett is 5-6 with a 2.63 ERA in 12 starts. Friday’s start was his second complete-game shutout of the season. He threw a no-hitter in a 4-0 win over Massachusetts on March 1 — the Terps’ first no-hitter since 2008.
