Earth Day

As we celebrate the 45th anniversary of Earth Day, our country can be proud to look back and see the progress we have made on environmental issues. From establishing the EPA to passing legislation to curb emissions, environmental considerations have been brought to the forefront. That said, our environment is far from being fine and many parts of it have even gotten worse these past 45 years. Work still needs to be done to educate about the issues and take environmental sustainability seriously.

This week our columnists Danielle Wilkin and Ian Lacy examine the true essence of Earth Day, as it has seemingly turned into a day of festivities and celebration with little to celebrate.
