On top of several Big Ten honors announced last week, eight Maryland women’s lacrosse players garnered national recognition on Wednesday.

The No. 1 Terps (20-0) placed five players on the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association’s All-American team as well as eight on Inside Lacrosse’s All-America list.

Senior captains Zoe Stukenberg and Nadine Hadnagy, the Big Ten midfielder and defender of the year, respectively, were named to the IWLCA first team. The duo represents two of the five finalists for the Tewaaraton Award, given annually to the nation’s top player.

In addition, Big Ten Goaltender of the Year Megan Taylor made the IWLCA first team after ranking second in the nation with a 55.1 percent save rate.

Attacker Megan Whittle, meanwhile, earned IWLCA second team honors. She leads Maryland in goals for the third consecutive season with 65 finishes.

Attacker Caroline Wannen, the team’s leading distributor with 36 assists and third-leading point scorer with 68 tallies, was named to the IWLCA third team.

All five honorees were also named Inside Lacrosse All-Americans, with Stukenberg and Hadnagy on the first team, Whittle and Taylor on the second team and Wannen earning honorable mention.

Midfielders Jen Giles and Kali Hartshorn and defender Julia Braig made the honorable mention list as well.

The Terps take their award-laden squad into the NCAA tournament quarterfinals when they face Stony Brook (20-1) on Saturday in College Park.
