If it wasn’t known before, the ACC confirmed that Duke and Virginia are the biggest rivals to the Terrapin men’s basketball team by naming them the Terps’ “primary partners” in the 2005-06 ACC schedule released yesterday.

The designation guarantees home and away regular season games versus Duke and Virginia.

The Terps will also play home and away games against North Carolina, Georgia Tech and Miami. They will face Wake Forest, Miami and conference newcomer Boston College only at home.

Away games will be played against N.C. State, Florida State and Clemson to fill out the Terps’ conference slate.

As the schedule model stands now, each school will meet every conference opponent at least four times over the next three seasons.

In this first year of the new scheduling model, the Terps had home and away games against Duke, Virginia, Clemson, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and N.C. State.
