The Terrapins men’s soccer team formally announced its six-member freshman class of 2013 on Wednesday, which includes both goalkeeper Zack Steffen and defender/midfielder Suli Dainkeh of the U-18 U.S. national team.
The signing class also features center back Alex Crognale, attacking midfielder Daniel Johnson, midfielder/left back Michael Sauers and Chris Odoi-Atsem—who coach Sasho Cirovski said could play striker, wide midfielder or outside back.
“We are very excited to welcome out 2013 class to the Maryland Soccer family,” said Cirvoski, who is entering his 21st season with the Terps. “All six of these young men have great skill sets and will make their mark on our program.”
The freshman class will join eight returning starters from last year’s team, including MAC Hermann Trophy winner Patrick Mullins, who scored 17 goals in 24 games last season.
The Terps will be looking to defend their ACC regular season and conference tournament titles in 2013.
