Antonio Logan-El, a heralded offensive line prospect who had verbally committed to play for the Terrapin football team, announced Tuesday at the ESPN Zone in Baltimore he would play for Penn State.
Logan-El, rated as the top offensive lineman in the state in Rivals.com’s preseason poll and the No. 5-ranked guard in the nation, revealed his decision nationally on ESPNU this week by throwing Florida, Tennessee and Terp hats to the ground before holding up a picture of himself and Penn State head coach Joe Paterno.
The 6-foot-4-inch, 307-pound Forestville High School guard had verbally committed to play for the Terps before his junior year.
Logan-El told Scouts Inc. and ESPN.com, “It really came down to the player-coach relationship for me,” but that he would have been comfortable with the Terps, Gators or Volunteers.
Logan-El is the seventh prospect from the state of Maryland to commit to Penn State, accompanying Gwynn Park High School’s four-star defensive tackle Phillip Taylor to Happy Valley.
According to rivals.com, the Nittany Lions currently have the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation while the Terps are No. 26.
