The NCAA granted Terrapins men’s basketball forward Jonathan Graham’s waiver request for immediate eligibility and the Penn State transfer will be available to play this season, the Terps announced Wednesday night.

Graham started a combined 25 games over two seasons with the Nittany Lions and is expected to bolster the Terps frontcourt depth, though its unclear how prominently he’ll figure in to the rotation.

A Baltimore native, Graham’s father, Ernie Graham, played for the Terps from 1978 to 1981 and holds the school’s single-game scoring record. The Terps open their season Friday against No. 18 Connecticut in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.

Here’s a little more background on Graham and his transition to the Terps.
