The Cornerstone Grill and Loft — more commonly referred to as “C-stone” — is clearly the best College Park bar to choose when gallivanting around the city on any night. Whether it’s drafts on Sunday, drinking away the pain of an exam on a weeknight or dancing your calories off on the weekend, Cornerstone is the place to be.

First, let’s take a look at the far inferior choices along Route 1. Terrapin’s Turf, which just (finally!) opened, has a really awful speaker system, subpar music and a generally mundane crowd. Though the service is great! (Shoutout to my wonderful roommate Allison. Go see her. She’s the best.) It’s a great place to stop by on your way to the holy mecca that is Cornerstone.

Now, some people prefer R.J. Bentley’s. But let’s be real. That place smells like vomit, has unnecessarily long lines for absolutely everything and has an overabundance of those in Greek life who all know each other. (I don’t have anything against people in Greek life; it’s just that when I’m at the bar and they are all bonding about being in fraternities and sororities, I feel a little excluded.) Plus, the music and dancing is much trashier. It doesn’t measure up to the beauty of Cornerstone.

The Barking Dog had potential after Thirsty Turtle closed down. But then it sucked, so it kind of lost all that potential. It’s the place people go when the lines at Cornerstone and Bentley’s are way too long.

And Looney’s Pub is actually a great option. The problem is, its food is way too expensive. And because they serve food for so long into the night, I always end up getting food and feeling fat because I ate so much: It’s just a bad combination with drinking. And the dancing isn’t nearly as wonderful. (Sense a theme here? I honestly just go to the bars to dance.) Plus, Looney’s is so much farther than Cornerstone from my apartment. Why would I trek all the way over there when the superior option is so much closer?

There are no other College Park bars worth mentioning. Thus, the choice is clear. No matter the night, no matter the occasion, Cornerstone is the best option. Don’t let any of these other paltry venues sway you from the truth.
