A local citizen found an unidentified man dead in the middle of the road early yesterday morning after a hit-and-run accident near the intersection of University Boulevard and Route 1, Prince George’s County Police said.

The man, whose name police have not yet released, was found lying in the westbound lane of University Boulevard toward Metzerott Road around 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

Evidence collected at the scene indicated the man was hit by a red Honda, Prince George’s County Police spokesman Cpl. Larry Johnson said.

The model of the vehicle is unknown, he said, but there may be damage to the left door mirror.

District 1 Commander Maj. Hector Velez said the deceased is not a university student and the vehicle has not yet been found.
