Bringing sportsmanship week to the university
This week marks the ACC sportsmanship week. Through this initiative, the ACC and the university promote good sportsmanship and an emphasis on good behavior at all athletic events. On behalf of the student athletes, we encourage fans to embrace the mission of this initiative while supporting the Terps. November is a big month with our fall teams entering the championship portion of their seasons and the winter teams kicking off their new seasons. It is the perfect time to come together, cheering positively for the Terps and embracing the family atmosphere at our athletic venues.
Collectively, we can inspire others to share and engage in great sportsmanship in order to proudly honor the university and its traditions. We all want to represent the university in a positive manner, and it starts with each of us individually doing the right thing. We as student athletes can’t thank you enough for the tremendous support that you show us. Please join us in embracing this initiative and encourage sportsmanship between student athletes, coaches, officials and fans.
Go Terps!

Easing the struggle to find internships
As both a senior and someone who is very involved on and off of the campus, I can honestly say some of my most valuable experiences at this university have come in the form of internships. However, in the past few years I have noticed an influx of articles in The Diamondback regarding students struggling to find internships or students struggling to find a campus department to give them credit for an internship they already have. Right now, the undergraduate department in the public policy school is accepting applications for their Public Leadership Internship Program that is available to students of all majors.
The public policy school is an oft-ignored resource to undergraduate students despite us living so close to our nation’s capital. This program has connections with a multitude of organizations, government agencies and members of the state General Assembly and Senate. I would recommend students interested in attaining an internship and developing both their professional and leadership skills to visit the public policy school’s website and apply by Nov. 17.
