Game 9: Penn State

Location: Beaver Stadium, State College, Penn.

Kickoff: noon

Terps fashion: White Maryland Pride 2.0 uniforms with hand-painted helmets.

Broadcast: ESPN

Noon weather forecast: 44 degrees, 76 percent of humidity, 30 percent chance of precipitation.

Injury report: Check out our injury report post.

Captains: Wide receiver Stefon Diggs, safety Sean Davis, tight end P.J. Gallo.

Flags Bearers: Linebacker L.A. Goree (Maryland), right guard Andrew Zeller (US).

Momentum: The Terps (5-3) suffered a 52-7 loss at Wisconsin last week in which the offense had a string of more than two full quarters without a first down. The Nittany Lions (4-3) pushed then-No. 13 Ohio State to overtime last week but fell short in a narrow loss.

Terps three to watch:

– Quarterback C.J. Brown completed 13 of 29 passes in a shaky start last week at the Badgers. His ability to turn things around against a stingy Penn State defense could determine the Terps’ fate.

– Center Sal Conaboy and the rest of the Terps offensive line struggled to get any push upfront last week as the team finished with 46 rushing yards on 28 carries.

– Safety Sean Davis has shown the ability to patrol the secondary and rushing the quarterback at times this season. He’s one of the Terps’ top playmakers.

Nittany Lions three to watch:

– Quarterback Christian Hackenberg has drawn generated some buzz as a potential draft pick but he’s also struggled this season, throwing six touchdowns and nine interceptions.

– Wide Receiver DaeSean Hamilton has established himself as one of the Big Ten’s top pass catchers this season. He has 686 yards on 57 receptions.

– Linebacker Mike Hull is the clear cut leader of the Penn State defense, and leads the team with 83 total tackles. No one else on the unit has more than 35 stops.
