After months of denouncing Donald Trump, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan says he’ll support the president-elect’s administration.
Hogan, who wrote in a vote for his father for president, congratulated Trump and vice president-elect Mike Pence on their victories and offered to work with them after they take office in January.
“Now is the time for all of us to come together to find real solutions to the problems we face as a country,” Hogan said in a statement Wednesday morning. “For the past two years, our administration has been committed to working with both Democrats and Republicans to change Maryland for the better and that is exactly what we need to see more of in Washington, D.C.”
After the Republican governor called upon both political parties to come together, despite an upset on election night that gave Trump enough electoral votes to win the presidency.
“As we move forward, I encourage both parties to leave behind divisive politics that marred this election season and our nation for too long and focus on what is best for America,” he said.
