University Police charged a man last week in connection with an armed robbery that occurred at the University Courtyards in 2006.

Anthony Terrell Cannon, 20, was charged with armed robbery, handgun in use of a felony, first-degree assault and theft in connection with the March 2006 incident.

During the robbery, the victim saw a group of people break into his car and went outside to confront them, University Police spokesman Paul Dillon said.

The suspects initially drove away, Dillon said, but then they returned to the scene.

He said Cannon pointed a gun at the victim, saying, “Give me your wallet,” and took the victim’s property.

Police found a fingerprint in the car but were unable to match it to Cannon because he had no criminal record at the time. Cannon was arrested this year for robbery in another jurisdiction, and police matched the print, Dillon said.

Cannon is incarcerated in the Prince George’s County Correctional Center on charges related to that robbery, but Dillon said he will have to go to court for the new charges.

Cannon has no affiliation with the university.
