O’Shea will manage research initiatives at the University of Maryland and University of Maryland, Baltimore in collaboration with both universities’ presidents.
The grants make up a part of the 70 grants — totaling about $12 million — that have been cancelled or paused at this university since Trump returned to office in January.
The initiative aims to generate $1 billion in investments over the next five years and push advancements in quantum research, workforce development and industry collaboration.
