The Maryland women’s basketball team announced its 2018-19 nonconference schedule Wednesday, which includes a rematch against South Carolina and a Thanksgiving trip to Puerto Rico.
Coach Brenda Frese’s squad suffered a 94-86 loss to the Gamecocks in College Park last year, and will travel to play the 2017 national champions Nov. 18 this season.
That will be Maryland’s fourth game of the season, after the team opens at home against Coppin State on Nov. 9 and hosts Dayton two days later. The Terps then play their first road game at George Washington, before heading to South Carolina.
Maryland will spend Thanksgiving in Puerto Rico, playing against Morgan State and Georgia in the Puerto Rico Classic.
The Terps host Georgia Tech in the ACC/Big Ten challenge Nov. 29, the start of a four-game homestand that also includes UMBC, James Madison and Loyola (Maryland).
A trip to Delaware on Dec. 20 closes Maryland’s nonconference slate.
With the return of leading scorer Kaila Charles and the addition of the No. 5 recruiting class in the country, the Terps will look to improve upon a relatively disappointing season, when they went 26-8 and fell in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
