Maryland football defensive backs Elisha Daniels and Elijah Daniels, who are twin brothers, announced they will transfer from the program Tuesday.
The brothers were sophomores and former three-star prospects from Davie, Florida. They came to Maryland in part because it represented their best opportunity to play together.
Neither contributed much to the Terps this past season, though, each producing just one tackle. That represented a slightly reduced role from 2016, when Elijah Daniels made 11 tackles and Elisha Daniels made five.
The twins’ announcements, which they tweeted Tuesday afternoon, didn’t offer an explanation for why they are leaving.
Maryland’s secondary is expected to return most of its key players from this past season, including honorable mention All-Big Ten selections Darnell Savage, JC Jackson and Antoine Brooks. Starting cornerback Tino Ellis, a former four-star prospect, will also be back.
