Draft Express calls Suns rookie Marquese Chriss “a freak athlete,” and labels the player as “one of the most physically gifted prospects you’ll find.”
Former Terrapin and current Blazer Jake Layman apparently doesn’t read Draft Express.
During a Saturday Summer League game between Phoenix and Portland, Layman deflected a pass that Chriss was attempting to throw, scooped up the loose ball and began sprinting down to the other end. He then rose up to finish the play, with the Suns first-year man going up with him to try and prevent Layman from finishing the play.
Layman finished the play.
The second round pick got the better of the lottery pick on this one ???????????? https://t.co/venwYA9ao4

In classical mythology, a Phoenix is a bird that burned itself and then rose from its own ashes to live another life. After what just happened to him, Chriss may need to do the same.
