The special election comes after former county executive Angela Alsobrooks resigned in December following her U.S. Senate victory. Tara Jackson, who was previously the county’s chief administrative officer, serves as the acting county executive.
White plans to prioritize public safety and economic development programs, according to his campaign website.
According to his website, White would implement community policing strategies and increase public safety resources through hiring more police officers and investing in body cameras and crime analytics tools.
He also hopes to provide mentorship, grants and low-interest loans to small businesses and encourage entrepreneurship across the county, according to his website.
White will face Democrat Aisha Braveboy, the county’s state’s attorney, in the general election on June 3.
