Four-star recruit Marcus Jackson decommitted from Maryland men’s basketball on Monday, according to InsideMDSports. The center’s decommitment comes just more than two months after he verbally pledged to Maryland.
Jackson was the Terps’ highest-rated recruit of the 2025 class at No. 100 nationally on the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 4 prospect in North Carolina and No. 17 center.

The center averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocks playing for Team Thrill — the same AAU team that Derik Queen, Julian Reese and many former Terps played for — in this summer’s UAA finals.
A Baltimore native, Jackson played at John Marshall in Richmond, Virginia, last season before transferring to Compass Prep in Chandler, Arizona, for his senior year. He transferred again just before his senior year, this time to Word of God Christian Academy in North Carolina.
The decommitment leaves Maryland with just one 2025 commit, four-star combo guard Christian Jeffrey. The Terps pursued and missed local four-star forwards Cam Ward and Jordan Scott in the 2025 class.
