Four-star men’s basketball recruit Marcus Jackson visited Maryland last Friday and wasted no time making his college decision. Jackson committed to the Terps two days later — coach Kevin Willard’s first commit in the class of 2025 cycle.

Men’s lacrosse also added three more recruits while baseball added its fourth class of 2026 commit.

Commits

Basketball
Marcus Jackson, 2025, power forward, Compass Prep, Chandler, Arizona

The 6-foot-8, 210-pound forward is the No. 4 player in Arizona and the No. 65 recruit nationally. Jackson averaged 15 points, eight rebounds and two blocks for Team Thrill in this summer’s UAA finals.

Jackson is originally from Baltimore and transferred to Compass Prep for his senior campaign. He previously played for John Marshall in Richmond, Virginia. The forward could potentially team with fellow Baltimore native Derik Queen in the Terps’ frontcourt next season.

Men’s lacrosse
Drew Demarinis, 2026, midfield, Our Lady of Good Counsel, Olney, Maryland

Coach John Tillman received his highest ranked 2026 commit last Friday. Demarinis is ranked No. 42 in the class and the No. 15 midfielder, according to Inside Lacrosse’s rankings.

The four-star commit earned All-WCAC honors as a sophomore for the Falcons in 2024. Demarinis led Good Counsel that season in goals and was named to the Nike National-Team DMV.

Brandon Williams, 2026, midfield, Salisbury School, Salisbury, Connecticut

Williams was the second commitment for the Terps last Friday. Inside Lacrosse rated the three-star recruit an 87 as a prospect, with high rankings for speed, agility and 1v1 offense. The 6-foot right-hander plays for Sweetlax Florida.

Luke Gouse, 2026, face-off, West Morris Central, Chester, New Jersey

A day after the Terps’ Friday splurge, Maryland added another commit. Gouse is a three-star face-off specialist with an offensive mindset. He scored 23 goals with eight assists in 2024, earning All-State second team honors alongside a Nike National All-Star selection.

Gouse fills a need for the Terps after losing previous face-off specialist Luke Wierman. The recruit won 71 percent of face-offs as a sophomore.

Baseball
Chase Bagley, 2026, catcher, outfield and shortstop, Don Bosco Prep, Ramsey, New Jersey

Bagley is coach Matt Swope’s fourth class of 2026 commit. Bagley is the first catcher in Maryland’s class, also adding versatility as an outfielder and shortstop. The prospect plays for a New Jersey powerhouse school that won the Non-Public A State Championship his freshman year. Bagley batted .408 with 19 RBIs and 12 stolen bases in 2024.

Offers

Football
Diondre Smith, 2026, wide receiver, Duncan U. Fletcher, Neptune Beach, Florida

Smith is an unranked prospect in the class of 2026 and the 22nd receiver that coach Michael Locksley has offered in the class. Smith averaged 23.4 yards per catch last season, finishing with 422 yards and three receiving touchdowns. The 6-foot receiver also has offers from Michigan State, UConn and UCF.

Chris Alston, 2028, wide receiver and defensive back, Friendship Collegiate, Washington, D.C.

Locksley’s first offer in the class of 2028 on Sunday has ties to its current coaching staff. Alston attends Friendship Collegiate, a former stop of defensive backs coach Aazar Abdul-Rahim. Abdul-Rahim was the school’s first head coach, earning 62 wins and a District of Columbia State Athletic Association championship in 2012.

Alston has also received recent offers from Syracuse and Virginia Tech.
