What to watch for Maryland: Keep hitting threes

In Maryland’s win over Ohio State on Friday, the Terps shot 11-for-17 from deep, their best mark of the season. It seemed like whenever the Buckeyes were ready to make a run, Maryland hit a key three-pointer to pull away. The Spartans defense allows opposing teams to shoot only 40.1 percent on two-pointers, which is the lowest number in the country. The Terps will need the three-point shot to stay in this game.

What to watch for Michigan State: Home cooking

The Spartans are a perfect 9-0 at home this season, and the closest game they have played at the Breslin Center was decided by 18 points. Michigan State whooped Maryland in East Lansing last season 91-61 and the Spartans haven’t lost there since Jan. 13, 2018. That crowd noise can be a factor, and if the Spartans get off to another hot start at home, it will be hard for Mark Turgeon’s team to stay afloat.
