What to Watch for the Terps: Turnovers

The biggest issue for the No. 15 Terps going into this season was finding an identity on offense. After losing their top three scorers from last year, Maryland had a rough start to its game against Albany. They were able to pull away from the weaker opponent as the game went on, but they were plagued by turnovers in the beginning. South Carolina forced an obscene amount of turnovers, 29, against Alabama State. If the Terps want to keep the score close, they’ll have to be cleaner with the ball.

What to Watch for the Gamecocks: Rebounding, figuratively and literally

Like the Terps, the defending national champion Gamecocks only return two starters from last season. Among the top concerns for South Carolina this season is rebounding, both in filling vacancies in the lineup and in attacking the glass. Maryland has finished in the top 10 in rebounding in the nation for eight straight seasons, so if the Terps can dominate the boards they can control possession throughout the game.
