University of Maryland student found dead in Commons apartment

A male University of Maryland student was found dead in a Commons 3 apartment Monday afternoon, University Police said.

At about 4:42 p.m., University Police received a call for a check on the welfare of junior economics major George Peter Ross Korzeniewski, University Police spokeswoman Sgt. Rosanne Hoaas said.

Officers responded to the room, where they found Korzeniewski dead. He was last seen at about 9 p.m. on Nov. 28, Hoaas said.

There was no evidence of foul play, and the cause of death will not be determined until after a medical examination, Hoaas said.

The incident has been labeled a death investigation, and the case is active.
