Former Terrapins women’s basketball assistant coach Marlin Chinn, who took over at Florida International this offseason, has been suspended after a Golden Panthers player told the Miami Herald he’s pursued her sexually.

FIU captain Destini Feagin reported Chinn, who worked as an assistant coach for six seasons in College Park, to the program’s athletic office and filed an NCAA complaint, according to the Miami Herald.

“FIU is conducting an investigation into allegations made against coach Marlin Chinn,” the program announced in a statement Tuesday. “Based on the allegations, the university has suspended coach Chinn, pending the outcome of the investigation. Because this is an ongoing investigation, the university will not provide additional comments at this time.”

Feagin said Chinn loaned her $600 in December to pay off a $500 debt to her FIU account, according to the Miami Herald.

“The day after I received the money, he called me,” Feagin told the Miami Herald. “I said, ‘Coach, how could I ever repay you?’ I was thankful, showing gratitude, humbleness. I really appreciated that. He said, ‘You will pay me back. In other ways.’ He said that six times. It’s vivid in my head.”

Chinn made numerous sexual remarks during practice or by phone over the past few months, according to the Miami Herald.
