Four-star point guard Tyger Campbell, who included Maryland men’s basketball in his final four choices, committed to UCLA on Tuesday.
Campbell, who 247Sports ranks the 72nd best player in the class of 2018, will join another former Maryland target, five-star center Moses Brown, on coach Steve Alford’s squad.

Campbell committed to DePaul in May but decommitted in September. He took his official visit to College Park on Jan. 7, where he took in Maryland’s 91-73 win over Iowa. On January 29, the No. 13 point guard in the country, per 247Sports, narrowed his college options to DePaul, Maryland, Purdue and UCLA.
Maryland doesn’t feature a pure point guard in its 2018 class, and the Terps missed out on an opportunity to add depth.
Current starting guard Anthony Cowan has averaged 36.3 minutes per game this year, which is the most in the Big Ten. Though Maryland has a commitment from 2018 four-star combo guard Eric Ayala, coach Mark Turgeon will likely continue to look to add another point guard for 2018.
