The Maryland men’s basketball team capped the regular season with two victories and a return to the AP Top 25 poll.

After a week that featured a 20-point win at Rutgers and a 63-60 thriller over Michigan State via guard Melo Trimble’s last-second 3-pointer, the Terps are No. 25 entering this weekend’s Big Ten tournament.

Coach Mark Turgeon’s squad had been a mainstay in the rankings through the majority of conference play, but after losing five of seven games before last week’s slate, the Terps dropped out.

Purdue (No. 13) and Wisconsin (No. 24) are the league teams ranked higher, but Turgeon believes the conference has been underrated throughout the season.

The Terps are the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten tournament after tying for the second-best record in league play and will receive a double bye before Friday night’s quarterfinal matchup.

They’ll face the winner of No. 6 Northwestern’s second-round clash against No. 11 Ohio State or No. 14 Rutgers. The Terps combined for a 5-0 record against those teams this season.
