Maryland football’s 2019 recruiting class took a significant blow Tuesday with the decommitments of three-star running back Treshaun Ward and three-star wide receiver Ahmarean Brown.

The pair of decommitments leaves the Terps with eight commits in their 2019 class and knocked the class ranking from No. 70 to No. 88, one spot ahead of Harvard, according to 247Sports.

Ward committed in September and was the first player to commit since the program went under investigation following the death of Jordan McNair. He said Maryland remains one of his top choices.

Brown had pledged to the Terps in April, and was the only wide receiver to commit until last week, when three-star Dino Tomlin joined him.

Maryland has now lost three commits in the last two weeks, plummeting a recruiting class that was already thin and not highly ranked. Three-star cornerback Trey Rucker reopened his recruitment last week after verbally committing in July.

Ward is rated the No. 59 running back in the country and No. 113 player in Florida by 247Sports. He considered Louisville, Nebraska and others prior to making his verbal commitment.

Brown is the No. 81 wide receiver in the country and No. 83 prospect in Florida, according to 247Sports. He attends Tampa Catholic High School and was receiving interest from Alabama, Michigan and others, per 247Sports.
