Terrapins baseball second baseman Nick Dunn has been named Big Ten Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week after going 9-for-14 (.643) in the past four games. He also recorded four RBIs and two doubles.

The freshman went .600 with runners in scoring position and .750 with two outs.

Dunn’s .417 batting average leads the team and ranks sixth in the Big Ten. His .511 on base percentage, meanwhile, leads the Terps and is fifth best in the conference. The Sunbury, Pennsylvania, native’s nine runs and 15 hits also lead coach John Szefc’s squad.

Dunn’s performance helped the Terps record 28 runs this week while winning two of the four contests. He’s taken over second base this year for Brandon Lowe, who hit .331 last season before being drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the third round.
