University Police responded Thursday night to a report of a voyeurism incident in Cumberland Hall, according to a University Police safety notice.

A female University of Maryland student was in a shower stall in the women’s bathroom between 5:35 and 5:40 p.m. when she saw the shoes of someone standing outside the outer curtain facing the shower, according to the safety notice.

The student later opened the inner curtain to grab an item, noticed the outer curtain was slightly open and saw a man looking in at her.

The student yelled and the man said he was sorry, then ran out of the bathroom.

A witness said the man was about 5 feet 5 inches, with shorter black hair and average build, according to the report. He was wearing cargo shorts, a short-sleeved shirt and red and white shoes. He was last seen getting on an elevator.

University Police are investigating the incident and encourage individuals with any information about the incident to contact them at 301-405-3555.

This is the second voyeurism incident in a week. University Police responded Tuesday to an Oct. 9 incident in Wicomico.
